George know at first that Lennie was going to do something bad while they were at the ranch. George was trying to get the guys to lock up Lennie, so that George can do what he needed to do. George had told Lennie to look across the river because he wanted Lennie to have a peaceful thing to think about before he left. After George killed Lennie, I bet it took George a couple of weeks to get over it and back working again on the ranch. George wouldn’t want t get the ranch that him and Lennnie were talking about for awhile, because George and Lennie been together for a long time, so it wouldn’t be the same without him there on the ranch. The next thing that George will do next is stay all night in a cat house. “George said, I’ll work my month an’ I’ll take my fifty bucks an’ I’ll stay all night in some lousy cat house” (Steinbeck, pg. 92).
