The ending for George should be him living in that little place he wanted to get with Candy and Lennie, and for him to keep working and make more money than he did, Even though it won't be like he promised Lennie, It would still be better if he got his own little place with Candy, Because Candy doesn't want to get killed like his dog. He is an old guy and sooner or later he can get fired without him having a place to go to, That's why he wants to get his own place as well. And I think that it would be better for both of them, They can make more out of themselves than staying there working for Curley's short self. It's more beneficial.
