As George went back to the ranch he took a few shots with slim the other guys gave him his pay and told him he could go into town to marrow so George went to sleep but the next day the guys still notice that George was still asleep and went to go wake him up but he was not their and his stuff was gone the only thing that was their was a note and it read dear men by the time you are reading this I would be long gone but I will tell you the truth on what really went down yestday so when you all went looking for lennie and I told you that I had to go use the restroom and get a drink I went to lennie already knowing where he is and told him that you was coming and told him to hide but I knew you would not stp till you found him so as I was about to pull the trigger I thought I don’t have to kill lennie so I shot the gun and grazed him on the neck to make him pass out and bleed momentarily so when we went back to the ranch I slept till every one was asleep while lennie hide in the barn
