Miguel Medina, Post #3

A mercy killing is “the killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease, typically by the administration of large doses of painkilling drugs”.  In our book “Of Mice And Men” they performed a mercy killing on old man Candy’s dog. I think this was wrong, even thought they said the dog was useless Candy has had it since it was a pup. I feel it would’ve been better to let it die on its own than killing it. Only because it’d be less difficult for candy knowing his dog died naturally other than the dog getting shot by some stranger. I’m not sure how I feel about these mercy killings, I feel that they’re wrong but why would you want to watch someone you love go through a lot of pain, physically and mentally of an illness? One way of performing a mercy killing on an animal is called euthanasia, commonly referred to as “getting put to sleep”. I do understand this method and I feel these mercy killings should only take place when the situation is at it’s at the worse by that I mean there’s no cure.
