To some mercy killing is suppose to be seen as giving people that are already dying relief. I do not see it that way you see mercy killing to me is another form of murder, I think it is unjustified and a terrible thing to do to a person or animal.
In the book Of Mice And Men "mercy killing"was performed on the dog of candy. Personally I don't think that they should have killed the dog i mean there was no reason for it and I do not know why that was included in the story.
I think mercy killing is one of the worst things you can do to a person, If a person is about to die then just let them die but if a person is in pain just let them live through it because you honestly never know if they will recover. Think about it if you were told to choose to kill the person and let them live and you were leaning towards killing them but then you decided to let them live and two weeks later they are better then ever before you would have killed a person instead of letting them live.
This was recently an encounterment in my family my dog Sophie was really sick and all the veterinarians were telling me to just "put her down" but I refused to and two days later she was perfectly fine and ever since then she hash gotten sick.
So no I do not think mercy killing is the right thing to do because you are not giving that person or animal a second chance. I don't care what articles or scientists or doctors or anyone else says mercy killing is just like murder, there is no mercy involved just a bunch of people who don't know how to give second chances and are killers.

A mercy killing is the killing of a patient suffering, Euthanasia is the deliberate advancement of a person's death for the benefit of that person. I think mercy killing is more when you kill an animal for mercy, and euthanasia is more for like humans to advance their death for the benefit of that person. I think it's worse for the animals because they still have sometime to live no matter if they are useful or not. And humans i mean we have the choice if we want to advance the time of our death or not. I think it's a sad subject to talk about because, it would e difficult to think about a family member that had to make that choice, and one of your pets that nobody liked and wanted dead because of their old age. You can kinda think about other peoples sadness and it can make you sad.

Mercy killing is a killing of a patient suffering from a painful disease, or is very sick. They most likely can’t take care of their self properly or is in pain 24/7. Mercy killing is based on killing a person, which is basically taking them out of their mercy (misery).”Mercy killing (sometimes referred to as euthanasia) is when someone directly ends another person’s life, because they believe it is in there best interest in order to relieve pain and suffering from an incurable or terminal condition.” (http://www.dignityindying.org.uk/assisted-dying/the-law-and-mercy-killing/) Taking someone out of his or her misery can be a bad thing or a good thing. People may feel worthless living on earth and want to die but don’t want to kill their self. They either have someone else kill them or move to a place where they allow the doctors to kill you. It’s not like shooting you or killing you physically.  You choose the day you want to die and they give you pills to put you to sleep, and then you’re dead. Personally I do not accept anyone being put out of they’re misery by someone else. God will have who ever he wants alive, he doesn’t need anyone’s help. The fact that someone could kill someone else is murder and I do not believe in murder.

"Mercy killing" for me is actually a good thing to do, better then dying slowly and feeling the pain and being in a misery. I know it is not easy for someone to end there life in a instant, but knowing that you are suffering form sickness or being in  horrible pain, is something you don't want to go through for you whole life. Also for me it means killing animals going through pain when there old or have a illness, i think it better to kill them fast which for me it is called "put to sleep" or "put down". A lot of animals are put down by injecting them with a dose of sodium thiopental or pentobarbital. For example in the book Carlson convinced Candy that it was best to end the old dog life (page 46), which Carlson tells Candy to shot the dog right on the head so he won't feel any pain. I have the same opinion on humans and animals mercy killing, why keep on suffering by dying slowly,  when you can just take a pill.

"Mercy Killing" is an option of putting a human or animal away when they are suffering from an illness that is killing them from the pain they are in. Doctors will prescribe a special medicine for humans that will kill them without pain. The same with animals, they will be put to sleep without killing them in harm. Mercy killing is applied to humans and animals from my perspective because it's sad having to see a person or an animal that you care about so much, go through pain for a long period of time. It's better for them to die slowly with one pill or shot and die that minute, then having to wait for a long time to die with pain. Like in the book "Of Mice and Men" candy didn't want to kill his dog that he had since a pup because that dog was a part of him, however he knew it was for the best. That dog shouldn't be suffering (John Steinbeck, p.45).

"Mercy killing" for me is almost the same for animals and humans, except humans decide when they want to die if their already sick, like that lady that was detected with a brain tumor and decided to take the pills two days after her husband's birthday, the pill would make her sleep and never wake up so she wouldn't die suffering. It was exactly the same thing Carlson wanted to do with the men in the farm's dog, the dog was living a horrible life, he couldn't eat, he could bearly walk, he didn't eat and he smelled really bad. Candy talked the men in the farm into letting Carlson kill his dog because he knew his dog wouldn't suffer anymore. I think "Mercy Killing" is a good idea because you die in peach and with no pain, basically you die without suffering. I think Carlson was right and it was a good idea to shot the dog.

Mercy killing is the act of taking another persons life it is also known as euthanasia. It is when one person takes the life of a person who has an incurable ill or is dying of a slow death. If anyone helps with mercy killing on a human being then the person who helped can be charged with murder and spend life behind bars. Even if the person wanted them to perform the mercy killing. Voluntary euthanasia is legal on some US states. Euthanasia in animals is considered putting an animal to death or allowing it to die without going through extreme medical measures. Euthanasia is used to cause the animal less pain and distress while dying. It is legal in the US for animal euthanasia if it is performed by a certified veterinarian in some states it is even legal for a non certified person to perform this on an animal.

mercy killing is a assisted dying when a terminally ill mentally competent adult making the choice of their own free will and after meeting strict legal safeguards takes prescribed medication which will end their life. this is applied to humans because they wont have to suffer and be in pain any longer than they already are, they will take the pill and go to sleep and wont wake up never again and it is applied to animals too because of the same reasons there gonna have to get put out of their misery somehow either with the pill or another way. mercy killing is a choice though you get to choose if thats something you wanna do, its another way or getting it over with so you or your family has to suffer and im pretty sure it dont cost as much as going through treatment and hospital bills.

Mercy killing is when they kill someone who is either in pain or already dying, gets to die. Basically Is killing someone so they wont suffer no more. Another name for this is Euthanasia.  The doctor can give them pills if they want them and those pills help them die in "peace". It also applys for animals, they can die calmly instead of dying with pain. My opinion is that its a good thing that these type of medicine works for killing, because if people know they're gonna die and are suffering a lot and know they're gonna die in pain, might aswell die painless then to be suffering. Its all within everybodys choice some people might not like it and some people might, just to stop suffering.

Mercy killing is when you’re being to death painlessly or allowing to die, as by taking away medical measures from a person or animal suffering from an incurable, painful, disease or condition. Its strict that conditions for a mercy killing include having presented a “voluntary, considered and repeated” request to die. So basically what would happen is that a doctor would prescribe you a pill that you could take at any time to go to sleep but never wake up. In highly cases of pain and knowing you’re already going to die will the doctor give you the pill. I personally think that the pill would be better for people or animals because it gives you the option of not going through such pain all the time and having to fight the pain every single day. My question is why face the pain when you can just take a pill and be done?

Blog Post #3- Alexis Fitzpatrick

Mercy Killing is getting the legal help from doctors and family members, to help be put out of misery during a painful disease. I believe that this seems like a better idea then letting your loved one go through a ton of suffering than just being with them everyday, knowing that they're hurting somewhere in their body. Though it's not fair on either side of the case, it's best to let them go rather then watching them pain. Why let someone so precious to you go through that suffering and pain rather than letting them be free and happy? I've known from experience that letting them go is always the best thing because you love and care for them too much to just be selfish, wanting them to stay though they're hurting. Mercy Killing is the better way out of things. But from cases that I researched, I understand why it's illegal because some people wouldn't do it properly then be accused of murder even if they thought they were helping put the person out of misery. I think that Euthanasia (Mercy Killing) is only part of the grief of letting go of a loved one. Better to let go while you can say your last words rather then them leaving and you not getting to say a thing.

Mercy killings are actually good if you ask me instead of dying slowly and feeling sorry for yourself cause your in misery , I'm sure its not that easy to one person to wanna  end there own life but knowing that your suffering  from extreme pain or incurable illness , Isn't something you wanna go on living with. Some people call it dying with dignity , which i totally agree with that statement but thinking of how there family would feel especially there parents the ones who brang them into this world hear that their son/daughter would rather give up there life then suffer but those who chose to mercy kill they have a incurable disease , they will suffer all of there life's . Us humans aren't the only ones who can chose mercy kill , animals can also be put down with mercy killing pills , because the older they get the more they hurt its not they have mouths to talk to you and tell you that there hurting and suffering so you have to pick whats best for your animal such as dogs , every day a dog gets put down by their owner because they were going through extreme pain and wouldn't make it even if there owner didn't even think of mercy killing . I have the same opinion on both human and animal mercy killing if the animal/person is hurting and dying why suffer more? spend some quality time with your family and have them there when you take the pill's.

Mercy killing is when someone kills a human being or an animal to prevent them from suffering pain. Mercy killing can become nuisance to many. Even though mercy killing is correct for their own precaution it’s not right. Families do mercy killing to their beloved one's because they want to prevent all the pain that they will go through. Pet owners think the same because they know how much pain their pets will go through. It's not just for dogs or cats, but for any other animal. I feel like mercy killing could be a good thing because you are preventing all the suffering that a human being or animal could through. Basically you're thinking about them all the pain that will be cause. If you do mercy killing it will all stop. Like in the book how Carlson shot the dog so it will stop suffering since he couldn't do much anymore, walking around, not being able to eat etc., he did mercy killing to stop all of that.  Even though it's wrong, I'm pretty sure my self would want to do mercy killing on myself to prevent all the pain I would go through if I had a disease.

A mercy killing is a person or animal that is suffering an incurable disease or condition in which they have the choice to take their life and for animals to be put down. For example, from a person’s perspective they went through that one of their pet ducks was attacked by a stray dog and it was seriously injured and he decided to put down the duck so it would stop his suffering (Koni, Humane for animals and immoral for humans). For example, if a dog gets ran over and it is still living and suffering the owner can decide to put the animal down to stop its suffering. An animal’s life is important because you can share a bond but not as important compared to a humans life. For example, if a person has cancer and they feel that she is suffering she can take her life with a drug to stop her suffering. The way a mercy killing applies to humans is that a human being is much more valuable to a person because of a strong bond and relationship with them. If they are suffering and decide to take their life it is much harder to let that loved one go.

In life I want to be a Veterinarian because I love animals but I have to think about the animal’s condition and if it is bad then I would have to put it down. You can share good times with the animal and create a strong bond. As if I became a doctor and if a person was dying I would work my best to save that person because it's a human being and we need to do our best to save that life.

A mercy killing is a killing of and patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease, by the administration of large doses of painkilling drugs. Mercy Killing refers to the practice of intentionally ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering. Also express intention of ending a life, to relieve intractable suffering. It is euthanasia, which is understood as termination of life by a doctor at the request of a patient. The act of putting to death painlessly or allowing to die, as by withholding medical measures from a person or animal suffering from an incurable.
To me mercy killing is when a very sick person gets tired of fighting from their sickness and wants to give up so he or she tells the doctor what he or she wants and they just give he or she the pills. I wouldn’t go through with mercy killing because I would just keep fighting no matter how hard it gets.

Mercy Killing is when a living person or animal is very ill and put it to death in a painless manner or choice to kill it. This could be applied to animals and humans because by having to die with being ill and having so much pain you would just die taking a medicine that put you to sleep and when you are asleep your body shuts down until you wake up but the medication doesn't wake you up. Like in the book the dog was described as an ancient dog to me ancient means that a time before the mayans or the roman empire because of the history. But when in the book they had put thong around the dogs head so it wouldn't see it and go behind it's head to shoot it was a bad act to me I didn't like the decision but it was for the best for the dog by just letting it smell bad and it could barley see.

Mercy killing is when someone is suffering with something and you kill the to put them out of their misery. It’s usually to stop someone from being in pain for too long by killing them and getting it. Say a dog got ran over and it has a major brain injury. It would be more humane to euthanize it then keep it alive. That is why many animals get put asleep after major injuries. If a human is a “vegetable” or brain dead, then someone has to make the choice to pull their plug. Some people wouldn’t agree with that but in reality it’s the most humane way to do it. Nobody would want to suffer so it seems fair to do that. It really depends on the situation though. If the injury is minor and it won’t permanently affect them in a bad horrible way then you shouldn’t mercy kill them. I they went brain dead its justifiable though. At least that’s my opinion.

In the book of mice and men Candy finally said to Carlson to kill his dog,Candy looked  sad and depressed when he heard the gun shot.George and Lennie were talking about they're dream about the house and the barn candy heard them and told them that he knew a place like that...that it was for sale and they coud live together get the share of the house and everything.

Mercy killing is a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease, typically by the administration of large doses of pain killing drug. Which in this case Carlson shot the old dog in the back of its head so the old dog would not feel any pain.  Animal euthanasia, are ways to cause a little pain or no pain at all when committing mercy killing. Some call it being “put down” or “put to sleep”. Most Animals are put down by injections usually using a “very high dose of pentobarbital or sodium thiopental”. For example in the book it explains how Carlson is trying to convince Candy that it’s best to end the old dogs misery (Page 46, Steinbeck). For humans, someone can mercy kill them if they think it is the best thing to do at the moment or the person ask for help to die and end their misery. I think that mercy killing should only be allowed if the person agrees or family does depending on the situation.

In the book they just talked about Curly wanting Lenny not get in fight with Curly and they talked about curlys wife and how she is around with guys flirting with them. They also talked about Candy's old dog of how good of a sheep dog it used to be an now it old and wrinkled and carlson tell candy to kill but candy doesnt want to.

Mercy killing is killing an living thing so that you it doesn’t suffer of the pain anymore so you basically free it from feeling pain. It applied to human like when a patient is with a disease and the disease doesn’t have a cure. They usually let them go with large doses of painkilling drugs. For animals its called Animal euthanasia it means good death, which would be painless and quick. In my opinion no one should be taking anyone’s life away even if it’s a dog. An animal is a living thing. Even if they say that it will be painless it wont be because that living thing is dead. Knowing that another living thing did shouldn’t be right. Unless its what the person want then it would be okay but not really okay. Whenever Slim was telling Candy to go kill the dog Candy was sad because it was his dog then one that has been with him through out his entire life.
