A mercy killing is the killing of someone who is very sick or injured in order to prevent any other suffering. I think this can be a helpful and bad thing depending on the situation. If someone is suffering and in pain constantly then a mercy killing possibly is the best thing for the person that way he/she is no longer suffering. The same thing with an animal, if the owner has tried everything they can for the pet and it's still in pain you don't want your pet to suffer anymore. Yes, it probably sounds cruel but if you don't want to see your animal in pain then imagine the pet itself, who's actually suffering through it all. To me, mercy killing can have good and bad reasons and I think that it should only be used when needed but if there's another solution to the problem then mercy killing shouldn't be an option.
