Luba Gonzalez POST#1

This book of Mice and Men takes place around the 1930’s when the Great Depression was happening. The great depression was really tough for some people, that some eventually migrated to see if they can get jobs or a better life. Lennie seems to have a disability and George is his caregiver. This story is also taking back before the American Disabilities Act, so some people might take him as a weird guy. I know because he forgets things he also seems to like petting mice " I'd pet 'em and pretty soon they bit my fingers and I pinched their heads a little and then they was dead--because they were so little." ( Steinbeck, Pg #11) George is trying his best to live a normal life with Lennie. Lennie and George are two friends looking for a job but when they do it, Lennie is causing problems so they get fired. I think this book is about two friends that ends up running away or getting fired from another job because Lennie does something (bad). they have ran away to hide because Lennie had tried to touch the little girl’s dress so they had to hide in a ditch all day because there were guys looking for them (Steinbeck, pg. 13). I know there might be another problem because George tells Lennie “Hide in the brush till I come for you. Can you remember that?” (Steinbeck, pg 12). Lennie seems to want things and do things that he shouldn’t be asking or doing. "Whatever we ain't got, that's all you want." (Steinbeck, pg 12) I think even though they have trouble they will be together because  George actually cares for Lennie.
