George will be a positive and negative influence on Lennie through out this book because when George is being mean or yelling at Lennie, he's just trying to make Lennie understand that he can't get into no trouble. For George parenting Lennie, he made Lennie think straight "I don't want no trouble"(John Steinbeck, pg.29). As well its the same way around. Lennie can be a negative influence to George for always having to stick up for him in Lennie's problems But like how George said " We kinda look after each other" (John Steinbeck, pg. 34). With being introduce into two new characters Curly and Curly's wife, as well getting to know both of them I predict Curly and his wife will be a negative influence to each other. From finding out his wife "got the eye" (John Steinbeck, pg. 28) maybe curly has notice that, making him even more grouchy. So for that he takes it out on the workers, which that can prove that is a negative influence. However it can go either way, Curly wife isn't happy with her marriage already because seeing how a short men can be and that's the excuse of why George said "jesus, what a tramp" (John Steinbeck, pg. 32).

ReplyDeleteI agree because George is about the only influence Lennie has to go off of, and take up after. Having the problems Lennie does he has to have someone watching him at all times or he will get into a lot of trouble. Curly s wife is a thot so they "will" probably divorce and (or) she will cheat on him and seduce other. Curly is a negative influence because he is very bad and uneccicery. He is very mean for no logical reason.
ReplyDeletei agree, George is both bad and good influence on Lennie because in the good way he takes care of him, he looks out for what he does and keeps him out of troubl. Bad because he yells at him and talks to him in a "strong" way for Lennies conditon. But the main thing is that George cares for lennie even in the conditon he is in.
ReplyDeleteI like your ending quote, although I think that you should add more details about what will occur. You say that Curly will notice that his wife has "the eye" but you don't say his reaction. I also think you need to expand your explanation on what you predict. Although just fixing those details your prediction is good. I think it is on the correct path. I am interested to know your prediction on the whole book and what will occur.
