I think that maybe Lennie will get some of the moments back. Instead of
George just knowing what had happened Lennie might know too. Lennie already
remembers the rabbit story he had interrupted and said "An' live off the
fatta the lan'," Lennie shouted . "An' have rabbits …"
(Steinbeck, pg 15). George isn't just protecting him he's nurturing him. I
don’t think George wants to tell him the full story of why they ran because he
may think that Lennie might do it again. I also think that Lennie does actually
know what happened, I don’t think he’s forgotten everything he probably just remembers
what he wants and keeps everything else in “storage”. No body ever forgets
everything it just takes something to bring out the memories that were kept in
so long and finally know what’s been hiding there. On the other hand George is
just over controlling.
