George will be a positive influence on Lennie, but will also be a negative influence on Lennie, Curley, and his wife. “You try to keep away from him, will you?” (Steinbeck, pg. 29). It shows that George cares about Lennie but he doesn’t want Lennie to ruin anything that makes them lose their job. “Listen to me you crazy bastard. Don’t you even take a look at that bitch.” (Steinbeck, pg. 32). George doesn’t seem to like Curley and his wife because Curley hates guys that are taller than him and might try to fight Lennie. “I hate that kinda bastard.” (Steinbeck, pg. 29). And when Curley’s wife tried to seduce him, George didn’t try to flirt like Curley’s wife did with him. “Jesus, what a tramp.” (Steinbeck, pg. 32).  And George wants Lennie to stay away from her. Lennie will be a positive influence on Curley’s wife and George, but will be also be a negative influence on George and Curly. When Lennie first saw Curley’s wife, he thought she was pretty and was fascinated by her. But if he’s caught looking at her, Curley might fight him. “You gonna have trouble with that Curley guy.” (Steinbeck, pg. 29).  If he gets in trouble with Curley, he’ll make them lose their jobs and George will get mad at him. But George will still take care of him. “We kinda look after each other.” (Steinbeck, pg. 34). Curley will be a positive influence on his wife and a negative influence on George and Lennie. He seems to care for his wife and loves her but he might not know that she’s a flirt. “Curley says he’s keepin’ that hand soft for his wife.” (Steinbeck, pg. 28). He doesn’t like George and especially Lennie. He doesn’t seem to like that George was talking for Lennie and he doesn’t like Lennie because he’s taller than him. “He hates big guys.’ (Steinbeck, pg. 26).  Curley’s wife will be a positive influence on Curley but a negative influence on George and Lennie. Curley’s wife was looking for Curley and he was looking for her as well. It’s probably because it was lunchtime and they wanted to eat together. She’s married to him yet she’s a flirt. She was trying to flirt with George but it didn’t affect him but it did affect Lennie. George doesn’t like her because she’ll distract Lennie and it might cause Lennie to mess up his job. “You leave her be.” (Steinbeck. Pg. 32). I predict that Curley will catch Lennie looking at his wife and he’ll start a fight with him. If Lennie gets into a fight with the boss’s son, the boss will fire George and Lennie.

  1. George does have an affect on Lennie in lots of ways. It could be positive or it could be negative. But the main thing with them is that they are always there for each other. They have each other back through whatever and that is what’s important. Lennie cares about George in so ma y ways as well. Lennie looks up to George as if he was his older brother. He copies him and all that, just shows he cares for him.
