Trevor Banks post #1

My first impression on how this book would be was that it was going to be a boring book about wisdom. I thought it was going to be full of clever metaphors and riddles to get you thinking smarter. It isn’t like that though. It is better than I expected honestly. It is about two migrant workers in the great depression. They have to find work all over the country in order to take care of themselves. They are constantly shifting around the country looking for work because Lennie, the mentally challenged one, is always getting them in trouble. On page 13 it talks about how he tried to pet this girls dress at their old job and when she jerked away he clenched onto her so he could pet it. They got the wrong idea and chased them out of town. He is also always carrying a mouse around that he kills. He is too slow to realize that he is hurting them though so he keeps picking them up. George, the smaller, smarter, one is always looking after Lennie. He constantly has to be on Lennies case because he either forgets something or does something to get them in trouble. At points, George wants to be alone working, not only because Lennie always gets them fired, but he could take care of himself more easily without Lennie around. They just do what’s right though decide that they should just work together and have each other’s backs. I think that in the end they will still work together and work for a better future.

  1. I agree on this because when i seen this book at first i also thought it was going to be a boring book that is hard to understand. Also when you said Lennie was the mentally challenged one you could have added that even though George is mean to him, He does care a lot for Lennie because he does need him so he does what he can to help Lennie out.

  2. I agree on this as well, I thought that it would be way different than what it is. I like how you describe the characters and the book as far as we've read. I think you did really good in explaining how Lennie is mentally challenged and the things he has done in the past like how he petted the girls dress and killed mice on accident. I also like how you describe George's feelings.
